Family Road Trip Checklist

✓ Secure a crash-tested crate

Strap the carrier or crate with a seat belt or cargo anchors. Look for crates certified by the Center for Pet Safety.

✓ Stop every 2–3 hours

Give your pet a short walk, a bathroom break and fresh water at every stop.

✓ Never leave your pet in a parked car

Inside temperatures rise fast in the sun, even with windows cracked — heatstroke can kill in minutes.

✓ Bring the vet passport

Carry vaccination records with proof of rabies vaccination in case you're asked when crossing state lines.
