How to make an unfamiliar room feel familiar
Bring the bed your dog already sleeps on, or one with the same shape. A dog that circles a bolster bed at home will circle the same way on the hotel floor.
Set the sleeping corner up first, before you unpack anything else, and put it in the same corner every night of the trip.
Keep the crate the same. If your dog is crate-trained, bring the mat it sleeps on at home so the space already smells familiar.
Pack a bed you can wash. Hotel rooms, trail mud and beach sand all end up in the same fabric.
