Before your first exotic vet visit
- Call before you go: ask if the vet personally treats your species (e.g. bearded dragons, cockatiels, ball pythons).
- Ask about after-hours care — exotic emergencies (egg binding, prolapse, respiratory distress) can't wait.
- Bring photos of the enclosure or cage plus your heat, UV and diet setup — most reptile problems start there.
- Transport birds in a small covered carrier and reptiles in a warm, ventilated container.
